The Top Eight Reasons Aliens Could Be Interested in Our Planet

Despite the fact that a majority of people believe aliens exist, we have yet to have a public close encounter of the third kind. However, if a race from outer space is really visiting earth or even living amongst us, what are the eight reasons our planet may interest these visitors?
Depending on if the alien visits us with either a friendly or unfriendly intention, we can imagine just a few of the reasons visitors may want to visit earth:
Natural Resources
If other alien races are as resource dependent as we are, they may be here to discover the resources Earth has left. It is easy to imagine a “mission’ would include assessing these resources, and finding a means to mine or extract them in the future. Resources could include anything from some unused natural resource we are ignorant about, to even people themselves.
A Potential Threat?
Despite the fact that long distance space travel is still in the realm of the imagination of science fiction writers. Visitors may see us as some kind of threat, and are watching how our societies develop. No doubt since the last fifty years has been an era of rapid “advancement” – perhaps we may be watched more now then ever before.
Anthropology Purposes
Studying how societies develop may not only be reserved to a few social scientists and governments. Far advanced alien societies may find Earth interesting, and watch us as we watch with curiosity- tribal societies on Discovery channel.
A Potential Ally
The Universe is a large place, and perhaps more advance races out there are in some kind of “cold war,” just as we were until the early 1990′s. Perhaps visitors may want to court our leaders in exchange for support in the event of a conflict.
“Gods” Observing their Subjects
The beliefs that we were created by Gods, and even perhaps an advanced alien race, are not new, and go back thousands of years. These creators could be watching over us, observing how we behave, and perhaps giving us a helping hand when we are in trouble.- a divine force perhaps?
A New Colony
Throughout our own history we have colonized, and subdued races, but could an alien race be planning the same?. If they really understood human nature, they would probably use the same tactics as our former empires did- divide and conquer, offer power to the few in return for trade, or even plan to enslave and wipe out whole races for their land.
A Stopover on the Galactic Highway
Earth may not be as important as we think. Whilst driving on a highway, sometimes we have to stop, rest and refuel after a long drive. Earth or its environment could be a handy refueling depot, or a place to rest.
A Scientific Lab
We do test various products and inventions on our own people and animals, so perhaps our planet is run as a great experiment. Where aliens test the effects of over-population, certain strains of diseases, or even how we affect our own environment.
The possibilities an alien race could be interested in our planet are endless- one that sells both movies and books, and fires our imaginations as we look out to space at night. If aliens do exist, and are advanced as some believe, perhaps one day we really discover their real interest in us.
